About University of Mary

The University of Mary, often abbreviated U-Mary, is a four year Catholic university near Bismarck, which is the capital of the US state of North Dakota, the county seat of Burleigh County, as well as the second most populous city in the state, after Fargo, having a population estimated at a number of more than 55 500 inhabitants, at the 2000 census.

U-Mary was established as a four-year degree-granting institution, in 1959, and it describes itself in its motto as being `America's Leadership University`. The institution was founded in the mid-'50s, by The Benedictine Sisters of Annunciation Monastery, and it achieved university status in 1986.

The university of Mary offers its students, today, various educational programs in numerous fields of study, including master's degrees in nursing, management, education, business administration, counseling, occupational therapy, physical therapy, strategic leadership, and project management.

Athletics

U-Mary's athletic teams are known as the Marauders, which compete in NCAA Division II and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, in 17 varsity sports, among which there is basketball, football, cross country, volleyball, golf and tennis. Their distinctive colors are blue, white and orange.
